Hello! Today we will head to one of the most visited cities, not only in America but throughout the world! Namely the famous and unique Las Vegas! The distance from San Francisco to Las Vegas is 570 ml, which is about 920 km. and ca 8-9 hours in the car. We decided to spend the night in Bakersfield – a small, unspectacular town on the way to Vegas. And we spent the whole day before in some Premium Outlets (San Francisco’s Premium Outlets). We definitely came across some cool stuff. And the best thing – many great offers on brands like Kate Spade, Michael Kors, GAP, Nike and many others.
Sadly but true, I do not have any photo from this Outlet, perhaps due to the fact that I was quite preoccupied in searching for the best deal … In the evening we were pretty tired after whole day of shopping we went to the local grill house and got some burgers and a Californian beer …
We started relatively early in the morning and in the upcoming four hours there was nothing else to see, except tones of windmills, countless cars on the highway and the desert! The Desert Mojave and the most famous part of it – the Death Valley. The Death Valley is the hottest and most dry area in North America. The highest air temperature registered in the world is about 57 ° C! And yes! It was extremely hot, hot, hot. I would definitely recommend investing in a good car air conditioning if you want to make it through this destination!
Our excitement grew bigger with approaching to Las Vegas! Thanks to the variety of Vegas stories and movies, each one of us has a certain idea about this city. But only after the first few meters and seconds in Vegas, a man falls from the endless desert in some unreal world that erases any picture, which had a place so far in my mind! One remains speechless! After the first minutes of shock, the only thing we tried to do is to find the parking lot of LINQ hotel. LINQ was going to be our Hotel for the next several days. And it was not an easy exercise as the hotel is located in the most famous and busy, 7 km long stretch of Vegas Boulevard – Las Vegas Strip.
There was definitely hard to choose the right place to stay in Vegas, taking into account the huge variety of hotels. The requirement number one for us was, that the hotel had to be located at Las Vegas Strip. In the centre of the madness! Our hotel LINQ had absolutely central Location. It was the newest of all hotels located on the Strip. And this place was absolutely great as we got a really huge room on the 14th floor, with a spectacular view.
After arriving at our hotel, we had very little time to get enough of the beautiful room. The reason was that we had to pick our show tickets from MGM Grand Hotel. And unfortunately, it is located on the end of the Strip! On this day, we celebrated our second wedding anniversary! I cannot imagine a better way to spend this evening than with Cirque du Soleil and their best performance in the “KA” show.
We definitely underestimated the distances to MGM Grand. The masses of people who were on the Strip, and the temperature of 43 ° – but we managed to get the tickets on time.
A bit later in the evening, after refreshing and putting some makeup on, we went to MGM Grand Hotel. Without expecting that in the next two hours of our life, we will be experiencing the most incredible spectacle! Better than anything seen so far (including cinema, theatre, circus .. . everything!).
Each spectacle of Cirque du Soleil has its own theatre at a particular hotel – e.g. “O” in the Bellagio, “Mystery” in Treasure Island. The “KA” Show has the biggest theatre inside the MGM Grand. Unlike many other shows of Cirque du Soleil, “Ka” can’t be presented elsewhere due to the complexity of transporting the 360-degree rotating hydraulic stage. Unfortunately, photography during the show was not possible – but may be better, as we enjoyed every second of this magic called “KA”. (Video here and here).
After the show, really flashed and much excited, we made it to the streets of Las Vegas. Party, cocktails, crazy people everywhere, and the dancing fountains of Bellagio – terrific! And of course – a compulsory visit to some casinos. On that evening we chose to play in the Caesars Palace Hotel. We even managed to “win back” our cocktails and to order some more. We finished the evening of our second anniversary with some open-air party that took place at the Flamingo Hotel. And maybe around 3 a.m. a bit faint, slightly dazed and absolutely happy with tones of positive emotions, experienced during the first day in Las Vegas, I fell asleep with my head down, enjoying this view:
Enjoy the day!
