Phi Phi Islands is probably on any bucket list out there when it comes to must-see destinations in South East Asia. We visited Phi Phi Islands in 2018 for 5 days and believe me or not – it was one of the most crowded places we’ve been visiting so far! We decided to visit Phi Phi one more time in March 2021 as the islands are currently the real paradise. Phi Phi Islands have breathtaking views from every corner! You can visit Koh Phi Phi Don, the largest island in Phi Phi archipelago, or Phi Phi Leh, famous for being the island where “The Beach” casting Leonardo Di Caprio was filmed.
Koh Phi Phi was a busy and bustling Island, but now it is a quiet and idyllic paradise. We enjoyed the quiet beaches, uninterrupted views, and chilled vibes. Now there are fewer businesses open but in fact, now it is the perfect time to visit the Phi Phi Islands as you will never see them again! With fewer crowds, great discounts and also some amazing weather!
Where to Stay on Phi Phi Islands
As you would expect from a major tourist destination in Thailand, Phi Phi Islands have no shortage of options when it comes to accommodation. As always, I’d suggest you stay somewhere central, to make accessing all the attractions as easy as possible. You can find all the accommodations on Phi Phi Islands here
Phuket: If you are searching for a lively place with plenty of bars, shops, and restaurants, your best choice would be Patong. If you are searching for plush resorts, nice cafes, restaurants, bars, or a honeymoon atmosphere – Kata & Karon are the best choices. If you want to learn about the history of Phuket, the place to stay is Phuket Old Town. If you are searching for luxury and privacy, Bang Tao is probably the best neighborhood to stay in Phuket. If you want to stay close to the airport where the beaches are not so crowded, the best place would be the area around Mai Khao beach. If you want to enjoy more the local vibes, you may book your accommodation in Rawai or Chalong.
Krabi: If you are searching for a lively place with plenty of bars, shops, and restaurants, your best choice would be Ao Nang which is for sure the most popular and most crowded area in Krabi. If you are searching for remoteness and adventure activities as trekking, climbing, snorkeling, and diving the best area in Krabi is Railay & Tonsai Beach. If you are on a family holiday and you are searching for a shallow beach perfect for small kids – Nopparat Thara & Klong Haeng would be perfect for you. Koh Lanta is the best place for people who are searching for secluded beaches and a not-so-popular destination in the Krabi region. For honeymooners and people who want to have a piece of paradise for themselves – Koh Ngai is probably the place for you to stay in Krabi. You also cannot miss the Phi Phi Islands – one of the most beautiful places in the world! And if you rather want to have a city vibe and a more commercial hub – Krabi Town would be the perfect place for you.
