Tanah Lot Temple: Sunset Perfection ~ Bali

Sunset at Tanah Lot, Bali

Pura Tanah Lot is an ancient Hindu Temple from the 15th century. The temple is actually a large offshore rock formation that is completely surrounded by the Indian Ocean at high tide. We were lucky to be here during the low tide because this gave us the opportunity to walk around and explore the temple from different angles. However, the majority aim to visit Tanah Lot during the high tide in order to enjoy the effect of a floating temple.

Pura Tanah has breathtaking natural glory, which chiefly comes into being during the sunset of the Beraban village in Bali. The Temple is probably the most desired place for caching an unforgettable sunset over the Indian Ocean and therefore is the most touristy destination in Bali. Thousands of visitors visit Tanah Lot every day.

The numerous visitors could not spoil my visit – it was just too perfect! It is not a secret – I’m the greatest sunset junkie and people cannot stop me easily from enjoying that natural beauty! Watching the sunset over Tanah Lot is more than remarkable. If you want to see the temple without tourists – I’m sorry, this is probably not possible. But you could try to visit it earlier in the day.

I have learned to ignore people. This super-power helps me not only when travelling to Southeast Asia, but also in my everyday life. Do not let people ruin the magic moments of life!

I have never seen anything like Tanah Lot’s sunset! … The nature of colours changing from golden yellow to deep violets, reds and even pinks… And praying to my only God, the Sun.
