Most Beautiful Place in Thailand? Khao Sok National Park

Welcome to Khao Sok – one of the best places to discover Thailand’s natural beauty! Khao Sok is home to one of the most beautiful nature reserves in Thailand. If you’re searching for an adventurous getaway and an opportunity to see Thailand’s untouched nature, there is no better place to visit.

We stayed at Good View Resort which turned out to be one of our favorite places where we’ve been staying so far! The resort is located in the middle of the Jungle which is one of the oldest tropical evergreen rainforests in the world – a 160-million-year-old ecosystem! In fact, this Rainforest is older than the Amazon Rainforest and the forests in Central America.

Interesting Fact: Khao Sok was virtually unaffected by the Ice Age, which did not reach down that far! When the ice melted, a great deal of water flowed into Khao Sok, leaving the area more lush and green than ever!

One of the main reasons we came to this region was to experience the marvellous beauty of the emerald lake. We joined a tour and for the first time after many months of travelling, we were exploring around only with foreigners! We were 10 people coming from Switzerland, the Philippines, China, Vietnam, and Austria and we had an amazing time together.

The lake is actually a man-made lake created in 1987 with the construction of Rajaprabha Dam and it’s in the Khao Sok National Park. We experienced the stunning lake, a breathtaking landscape that looks very similar to Vietnam’s Halong Bay, we visited a cave and got the chance to swim and kayak in the lake.

Where to Stay in Khao Sok

As you would expect from a major tourist destination in Thailand, Khao Sok has no shortage of options when it comes to accommodation. As always, I’d suggest you stay somewhere central, to make accessing all the attractions as easy as possible. Khao Sok may be a great option for people looking for something a little more low-key. Unlike its neighbors in Phuket or Krabi, Khao Sok is a little less touristy and is a perfect place for vacation if you are searching for mountains, nature, and wildlife.
