This month, we revisited one of our all-time favorite European capitals—Prague! It was our second time in the city, and this time we decided to explore the attractions we missed on our last visit. Where we stayed?

Breakfast at Mama Shelter was another highlight, offering a wide range of tasty options, from fresh pastries and fruits to hot dishes like eggs and sausages. The hotel is ideally located close to public transport hubs and within walking distance of top sights. Our room was cozy, complete with comfy beds, a large TV, free Wi-Fi, and quirky décor that gave it a unique vibe. We especially appreciated the thoughtful amenities like toiletries and a coffee maker, which made our stay even more comfortable.
Transport
For getting around, we used 72-hour public transport cards, which gave us unlimited access to trams, buses, and the metro. The cards cost around CZK 330 (about €14) and can be bought at ticket machines in metro stations, at the airport, or online. They were a lifesaver, especially when we needed to quickly hop between different parts of the city. From and to the airport, we used Bolt, a ride-hailing service similar to Uber, which was reliable and affordable, making it a stress-free way to handle our airport transfers.
What Did We Visit in Prague?
During our three nights and two full days in Prague, the Go City All-Inclusive Pass was a game-changer, allowing us to visit countless incredible sights without the hassle of buying individual tickets or planning logistics. We kicked off our first morning by exploring the iconic Prague Castle, a sprawling historical complex that’s rich in culture and history. Inside, we marveled at the towering St. Vitus Cathedral, with its breathtaking Gothic architecture, and wandered through the charming Golden Lane, known for its colorful, fairy-tale-like houses. To cap off the morning, we explored St. George's Basilica, a hidden gem of Romanesque architecture that provided a peaceful and intimate experience compared to the busier sites. Each of these attractions gave us a deeper insight into Prague's rich and layered history.

In the afternoon, we headed to the Slivovitz Museum, a must-visit for anyone interested in Czech culture and spirits. We learned all about the rich history of Slivovitz, the famous plum brandy, from its traditional distillation process to its place in Czech traditions. The highlight was, of course, the premium tasting session, where we savored different varieties of Slivovitz paired with local snacks. To end the day on a fun note, we visited the Museum of Illusions, where we were dazzled by optical illusions and mind-bending exhibits, a playful and entertaining conclusion to our day.
On our second day, we immersed ourselves in the rich and emotional history of Prague’s Jewish Quarter. This area is a testament to the deep-rooted Jewish heritage in the city. Our first stop was the Old Jewish Cemetery, a profoundly moving site with thousands of gravestones tightly packed together, some dating back to the 15th century. We then visited the Old-New Synagogue, one of the oldest synagogues still in use today, filled with centuries of history. Additionally, we explored the beautiful Spanish Synagogue with its Moorish Revival architecture, the Klausen Synagogue, Maisel Synagogue, and the Pinkas Synagogue, each with its own unique story and contribution to Prague’s Jewish culture. These sites helped us understand the resilience and rich cultural history of Prague’s Jewish community, adding depth to our journey.
Next, we made our way to the Žižkov TV Tower, one of Prague’s most unique and quirky landmarks. Standing at an impressive 216 meters, this towering structure was built during the Communist era and is famed for its futuristic design. What truly sets it apart are the playful sculptures of giant babies crawling up the sides, created by Czech artist David Černý. After a short elevator ride to the observation deck, we were rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views of the entire city. Fun fact: it’s the tallest building in Prague, offering some of the best photo opportunities!
In the afternoon, we dove into one of the Czech Republic's proudest traditions with a visit to the Pilsner Urquell Experience & Beer Tasting. This wasn’t just about sampling beer—it was an immersive journey into the history and craftsmanship behind the world-renowned Pilsner Urquell. We had the unique opportunity to taste various Pilsner beers and even participate in a hands-on lesson on how to properly tap a Czech beer, a skill that’s taken seriously here!
