Welcome to La Digue, Seychelles

Welcome to La Digue, a mesmerizing island in the heart of the Seychelles archipelago, where breathtaking natural beauty and pristine beaches await. With its untouched landscapes, turquoise waters, and picture-perfect shores, La Digue is a paradise for beach lovers and nature enthusiasts alike. In this blog post, we invite you on a virtual journey to explore the best beaches that La Digue has to offer. From secluded coves to stretches of powdery white sand, each beach on this enchanting island has its own unique charm and allure. So grab your sun hat, slip into your flip-flops, and let’s embark on an unforgettable adventure along the idyllic shores of La Digue.

Anse Pierrot, La Digue

La Digue island became turned out to be my favourite place during our trip to Seychelles. The island is only 10km² which makes it relatively easy to explore around by bike or on foot. The island offers spectacular sceneries, wild nature, and the most marvellous beaches we saw during our trip to Seychelles! Here is my beach guide to La Digue Island – you can visit all of them even within 1 or 2 days!

Grand Anse, La Digue

Anse Union, La Digue

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse La Reunion

Anse La Reunion is the first beach you will probably see after arriving in La Digue. It is located in the south of La Digue Marina. The beach is easy to access and the environment is safe. The beach is about 1 km long and the water is shallow during low and high tide.

Anse La Reunion is where everything is happening in La Digue. Here you can choose between various facilities, restaurants and shops.

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Severe

Anse Severe is one of the most beautiful beaches in La Digue and a perfect place for enjoying the sunset and views over Praslin Island. The beach is good for swimming and snorkelling as the waters are calm and the coral reef beautiful. The white sand beach of Anse Severe is one of the most accessible and appreciated beaches in La Digue.

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Patates

Anse Patates is the beach where you can find the most spectacular turquoise colour of the water in La Digue. I spent more than 30 min here just to take photos … I love this beach! It is a good place to relax, swim and if you are lucky – to enjoy the dolphins swimming around! Anse Patates is definitely one of the most picturesque beaches on La Digue!

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Gaulettes

Anse Gaulettes is located between Anse Patates and Anse Grosse Roche. The beach is about 800 m long and almost always empty, probably because the waters are not the best for swimming or snorkelling. During high tide, strong undercurrents and high waves make it even harder to enjoy swimming here. Sunbathing is a good idea though – you can have the whole beach just for yourself!

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Songe, La Digue

Anse Songe, La Digue

Anse Grosse Roche

Anse Grosse Roche is named after the massive boulder located on the north side of the beach. Even for La Digue, it is something that you cannot miss when passing by – the boulder is something you will have to take a photo with!

The water here is very calm, except during the summer months when the wind and tide bring massive waves and sometimes seaweed.

Anse Savere, La Digue

Anse Pierrot, La Digue

Anse Banane

Anse Banane is a great place to enjoy your lunch with a view over La Digue’s neighbouring islands: Felicité, Marianne, Grande Soeur, and Petite Soeur. The water here is not that good for swimming and snorkelling, but very good for relaxing and sunbathing.

Anse Pierrot, La Digue

Anse Fourmis

Anse Fourmis is the last stop you can reach by bicycle on this site of  La Digue.  Anse Fourmis is a secluded, beautiful stretch of sand and is the last beach before the end of the road. The beach is not good for swimming as the current is often very strong. Anse Fourmis is a perfect place for enjoying the sunrise!

Anse Pierrot, La Digue

Anse Marron, La Digue

Anse Marron, La Digue

Anse Cocos

Anse Cocos is a beautiful white sand beach located on the east side of La Digue. The beach is a bit difficult to access – you first have to walk to Grand Anse and from here you can access it on foot. The beach is famous for its shallow natural pool water, where you can enjoy swimming.

Anse Marron, La Digue

Petite Anse

Petite Anse is a beach with crystal clear turquoise water, white sands and beautiful scenery. The beach is never too crowded as you have to walk about 40 minutes from the west side of La Dugue in order to get here. Also a good place for sunrise and sunbathing. Petite Anse is not the best place for swimming as the water gets deep very quickly and the current is strong due to lack of coral protection.

Anse Marron, La Digue

Anse Marron, La Digue

Grand Anse

Grand Anse is the wedding beach on La Digue – here you can spot a wedding almost every day! Petite Anse is also a spectacular place for enjoying the sunrise on La Digue, the turquoise colour of the water is perfection and the rock formation – unique! I fell in love when we first arrived here … Make sure you visit it in the early morning as it becomes more crowded after 9:30 am.

Anse Marron, La Digue

Anse Marron, La Digue

Anse Songe

Anse Songe was the second beach we visited during our hike to Anse Marron. The scenery is spectacular. The feeling is very private and mystic! The beach is a combination of sand and rocks and is not suitable for swimming as the water is intense and the currents – strong.

Anse Grosse Roche, La Digue

Anse Gaulettes, La Digue

Anse Marron

Anse Marron is one of the most beautiful sceneries I have ever seen in my entire life! There was nobody here as we arrived at 8 in the morning so we could have it just for ourselves! The beach is famous for its natural saltwater pool which is protected from the open ocean by marvellous boulder formations. The white beach is only 100 m long and 3m wide. The waters here are deep but protected by the rock formations so you can enjoy swimming and snorkelling in a protected environment.

Anse Gaulettes, La Digue

Anse Bonnet Carre

Anse Bonnet is a very wild and isolated beach in the south of La Digue. The water here is shallow but the tides are strong, making it not good for swimming. During low tide, the beach is suitable for snorkelling.

Anse Fourmis, La Digue

Anse Aux Cendres

Anse Aux is also one of the famous wedding beaches in Seychelles. It is part of the Source d’Argent Beach and is a perfect place to go to if you want to have a more private atmosphere.

Anse Banane, La Digue

Anse Pierrot

Anse Pierrot is a 70 m white sand beach with crystal and interesting rock formations located 1 km south of Anse Source d’Argent. The beach is beautiful, safe and also perfect for photographs. The beach is suitable for families as it offers plenty of shade and places to relax. Good to know is that the beach “disappears” during the high tide.

Anse Source d'Argent, La Digue

Anse Source d’Argent

Anse Source d’Argent is the most spectacular, most famous and most photographed place in La Digue and probably in Seychelles. The beach is always in the top places for the best beach in the World and when arriving there you will know why!

Anse Source d’Argent is the beach for many commercials for Bacardi and Raffaelo, therefore it is often called Raffaelo Beach.

The beach is 1100 m long, the water is often shallow, but during the high tide, it is a good place for swimming and snorkelling. This is the most beautiful but also the most crowded beach in La Digue … So be prepared to see many visitors taking photographs around.

Anse Banane, La Digue

Anse Union

Anse Union is a 300 m long, often empty beach with small waves and very shallow water. This makes it perfect for families with kids, and also for snorkelling and swimming.
