Best Time to Visit Hue
The best time to visit Hue is during the dry season, which lasts from February to April. During these months, the weather is generally pleasant, warm, and dry, making it ideal for sightseeing and outdoor activities. Average temperatures range from 20°C to 28°C (68°F to 82°F), with comfortable humidity levels and plenty of sunshine. This period is perfect for exploring Hue’s historic landmarks, such as the Imperial City, Thien Mu Pagoda, and the Perfume River, without the discomfort of excessive heat or rain.
From May to August, Hue experiences its hottest months, with temperatures rising to 30°C–38°C (86°F–100°F). The humidity levels can also be quite high, making midday sightseeing more challenging. However, if you don't mind the heat, this is still a great time to visit, especially for early morning or late afternoon explorations.
The rainy season, from September to January, brings heavy rainfall and occasional typhoons, particularly in October and November. During this time, temperatures range between 18°C and 25°C (64°F–77°F), but the frequent downpours can make outdoor activities difficult. Flooding is also common in some areas, which may disrupt travel plans. However, the city’s lush landscapes and misty atmosphere can offer a different kind of beauty for those who don’t mind the rain.
